Eating quality food is the key to losing weight
Dieters across the world are being told that if they want to lose weight it is all down to eating quality foods, rather than the quantity that they are consuming.
A study has found that diet has more of an impact when it comes to losing weight than levels of physical activity and exercise.
Scientists behind the research advised dieters to avoid sweetened drinks, potatoes and foods that contained refined grains such as white bread and white rice.
They also urged people to avoid processed foods and said people should be eating ‘natural’ foods such as yoghurts, nuts, fruit and vegetables and whole grain breads and cereals.

Also revealed in the study is that getting the right amount of sleep is night is a key factor of losing weight.
Results showed that people lost more weight if they slept for six to eight hours every night than those that slept for under six or more than eight hours.
“These findings underscore the importance of making wise food choices in preventing weight gain and obesity,” said Harvard School of Public Health nutritional expert, Professor Frank Hu.
“The idea that there are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods is a myth that needs to be debunked.”
A team of Harvard researchers led by Professor Hu analysedthe results of three major American health studies which collectively looked at 100,000 people and their weight gain or loss over 20 years.
The findings have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
