Eat lots of vegetables and fruits: It is recommended that one must eat at least five portions of different types of vegetables and fruit in a day. One can also eat a banana over breakfast or you can also have some dried fruit.

Eat small portions: If you wish to keep potion sizes reasonable, then you must eat foods that you want and stay fit. A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings.

Use oils and fats less: Do not consume fat fried foods  in excess. Olive, canola and peanut oils, almonds, walnuts and fish provides heart-healthy fat as also minerals and vitamins.

Eat a lot of brown rice: Brown rice is delicious and is also good. But, it usually takes a lot of time to cook. So, plan to make brown rice instead of white rice the next time you serve rice.

Stock your kitchen with healthy food: It is a wise option to stock your kitchen with fruits, whole grain bread or biscuits as snacks. Do not opt for chips and aerated drinks. Thus, shop for foods wisely and also read food labels carefully.

Add life of colours to your salad:  Make your salads colorful as if you have more than three colours then you would have a great variety of nutrients and vegetables.

Eat homemade food: Eating foods made at home is healthy than outside food as you can regulate the ingredients that go into the recipe.

Eat food that is steamed, boiled, grilled and pressure-cooked: Eating boiled, pressure-cooked foods is better option than eating salted, canned, fried and bottled foods.
