LNKBOX are helping show COVID-19 the door with UVGI.
LNKBOX usually run complex container systems to charge 300 lithium-ion batteries simultaneously at large live events such as Coachella, EDC, Bonnaroo to name a few. At request, LNKBOX is now entering the EUA process with the FDA on a device called the MK Reactor.
The MK Reactor is a portable container which uses the Nebraska Process which is a surface decontamination procedure involving the delivery of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). The UVGI has been shown to effectively inactivate a wide range of human pathogens including coronaviruses and other human respiratory viruses.
The MK Reactor can disinfect N95 masks at a rate of 2,000 -3,000 units per hour.
LNKBOX has partnered with John Lowe from the University of Nebraska, UVDI the UV lightning company, IPME a manufacturer of reactor shells and Lumacept. Also working on the project is around 35 scientists and technologists.
As per the FDA and CDC's guidelines, the N95s can be used 10 times before they have to be disposed of by using this system. That makes 2 million masks equate to 20 million, 20 million to 200 million.
With a unit size of 23' long, 13' tall, and 8'6" wide they can be repositioned easily with a standard pickup truck giving the ability to decontaminate PPE anywhere.
The system has come together in just 14 days by utilizing existing and well-tested technology. There are no new processes being performed just repackaging an existing technology in a useful way to help in the fight against COVID-19.
The future plan could include being able to decon other PPE and hospital and everyday equipment such as hospital beds, wheelchairs and trolleys and baskets in food shops just by reconfiguring the UV arrays.
