New research suggests that the global market for vascular imaging technlogies will accelerate 6.5% per year over the next five years, up to USD$5.95 billion by 2022.

The research from MarketsAndMarkets identifies the primary drivers as improving technlogies, aging populations, and the increasing prevelance of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). It says North America will represent the largest market share geographically, featuring as it does both an aging population susceptible to high rates of CVD and the greatest dispursment of investment in new technlogies.

Of the technologies driving most growth, magnetic resonance imaging will dominate the market in 2017, continuing to be the preferred choice due to its non-invasiveness and high efficacy.

Coronary angiography will dominate the cardiovascular procedure segment of the market, primarily driven by the ever increasing geriatric population of the world.

The projection sees a overall value uplift of over 25% on a market worth $4.35 billion today.
